There are many ways to navigate succession, transition, leadership and other challenges. Through our wisdom bank ‘Insight’ we share the knowledge and wisdom of experienced social entrepreneurs of all ages to highlight the opportunities and pitfalls of navigating a career in social entrepreneurship. They are real-life examples and potential pathways, so you can side-step lessons already learned and consider what route works best for your situation.
What is ‘Insight’?
It is a library of knowledge about navigating the challenges of being a social entrepreneur (otherwise known as social innovator). It covers key categories such as leadership, money, succession and transition, and wellbeing. This is not a ‘how-to-guide’ but a chance to read and listen to stories from experienced social innovators so you can choose what might work best for you and your organisation - so you can, in the words of Fleetwood Mac, ‘go your own way’.
Who is it for?
The knowledge shared comes from social entrepreneurs and is for social entrepreneurs and those who support them (successors, boards, staff, funders…)
What is an ‘elder’ social entrepreneur?
Social entrepreneurship (also known as social innovation) involves the development of new solutions to society's pressing problems. If you are solving a social issue through your organisation - whether you founded a non-profit, a social enterprise or a for-profit business - we regard you as a ‘social entrepreneur’.
An elder is someone that a community looks to for experienced advice. While we primarily use the term ‘elder’ to refer to older social entrepreneurs we also include those who, regardless of age, have accumulated significant experience in the sector. The term is not about age but recognition, respect and supporting the social innovation community.
